What I minted this week

A letter to week 10

Welcome to the 25 new people who joined the onchain letters community since Friday!

I'm thankful for all 1068 of you and I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend 💤

If you're enjoying my writing, please share Onchain Letters with your friends in Crypto and join the /onchainletters channel on Farcaster 🤝

Today marks 10 consecutive weeks of posting 3 letters every week since the start of 2024!

It's definitely been a grind and wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, but I'm glad I stuck with it.

I'm starting to see momentum grow with everything I'm doing. And most importantly, I finally feel like I'm having fun with my work and learning a ton.

The whole idea of the creator journey has been stressing me out for over a year now but all the efforts feel like they're slowly coming together. This is just the start and I'm excited for the next 10 weeks.

With that being said, here's a quick update on the next few days.

Upcoming Schedule

This next week, I will not be publishing my usual Tuesday & Friday deep dives.

I'm out in Switzerland & Paris for a family trip and won't be able to spend time doing quality research for my letters. It'll be nice to take a few days off and reset my brain.

I don't want to spam your inboxes with posts I'm not proud of so I'll be back next Sunday with my week 11 mints and then we're back on schedule :)

In case you missed my letters from this week, here's a quick recap:

  1. A letter to 1000 Subscribers: This week was awesome! On Monday, the Onchain Letters community hit the big first milestone...1k subs! 1000 is just the start. I'm feeling pumped to keep the writing going. Some metrics that I shared in the post:

    • Started Onchain Letters: Dec 18th (77 days ago)

    • # of posts: 36

    • # of words written: 52,135

    • # of collects (Base & Zora): 280

    • ~90% of subscribers have their wallets connected

  2. A letter to Hypersub: On Thursday, I launched my own Hypersub! It''s called "Terminally Onchain". In under 48 hours, the community grew to over 100 hyper-subscriptions and earned 2 eth in rewards 🔥

Through Hypersub, the Fabric team is enabling creators to think differently on how to approach community building, patronage, & monetization. The primary goal for my creator journey is to prioritize being a full stack onchain creator. My mission is to try experimenting with new models for growth & monetization that are unique and utilize the new suite of creator tooling.

What I minted this week

Every Sunday, I share what I minted throughout the week.

It can be hard to keep up with everything that's happening onchain so hopefully the list below helps you discover a fun project or initiative you may have missed.

Note: some of the minting periods may have ended. None of this information is financial advice, DYOR.

  1. Just Mint it by @lght

On this 10th Sunday of sharing what I collected every week, I finally hit 100+ mints! That got me thinking...how do I explain why minting is so important to others in the space who don't quite get it? And honestly, his answer was so simple...forget all the scarcity and signal and other shenanigans, just mint it!

If you like it, mint it. If you think it's cool, mint it. If you want to just support, mint it.

Btw, if you haven't done so already, make sure to check out Jacob Horne's post Mint first.

  1. This week, I joined the skininthegame DAO as the third signer! Nick & Mike Tomaino (1Confirmation) have been running the /skininthegame channel on Farcaster and are doing a fantastic job of pushing attention towards the importance (and fun) of prediction markets.

They both enjoyed my letter to prediction markets from a few weeks ago and asked me to be the first outside signer for the DAO. The goal of the experiment is to enable the most impactful contributors of /skininthegame to literally have skin in the game and benefit from the growth of Farcaster native assets (i.e. degen, Farcats, etc.)

  1. My friend @july and the Faust team made their first public announcement where they introduced Roc! I highly recommend checking out the launch post here to learn more about what the team is up to. tl;dr: they're thinking about how to bring valuable off-chain data onchain.

What's also so cool about this mint is that it's literally a certificate of proof saying that you have been there from the start of Roc's journey. As the company starts to grow over the next few years, this mint is proving skin in the game from day 1.

  1. Doing Numbers Episode #2: memecoins & Farcaster dev tooling. This is becoming one of my favorite pods in crypto - three of my friends just jamming on what's happening in the space. I've been having ton of fun with Woj, Six, & Martin discussing all things memecoins recently and they have a bunch of cool insights to share. Definitely recommend giving it a listen!

That's all for this week - I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I'll see you all next Sunday 🫡
